Account Director

The Account Director (AD) works closely with our agency president to ensure all aspects of client relationships run smoothly. The focus is on managing client assignments, keeping them happy, and growing revenue. This is a senior-level opportunity that could lead to agency partner for the most valuable individuals.

Job Overview
The AD is expected to perform account management, new business functions, and help steward the agency. You will coordinate project team activities, ensure that project tasks are completed as planned, and grow revenue. Handle day-to-day account management on key assignments.

» Writing and preparing proposals (with the help of a project coordinator)
» Handling day-to-day account management on key assignments
» Coordinating and handling basic project research to initiate brand strategy and writing
» Collaborating with the project team to drive the approach, deliverables, and schedule
» Scheduling and facilitating project team meetings
» Collaborating on the content and presentation of key client deliverables as required to ensure relevancy, strategy, quality, and timeliness
» Communicating action steps to creative teams
» Delivering weekly status reports to project team and the client
» Completing work within the agreed to budget
» Verifying project financial paperwork
» Focusing on details and driving results
» Attending, coordinating, and managing various productions on an as-needed basis (i.e., attending photo sessions, press checks, recording sessions, film productions, etc.)

» Suggesting new projects to the existing client base to help improve their revenue and ours

» Helping to grow annual agency revenue
» Assisting senior partners reduce their day-to-day responsibilities
» Working knowledge of contract interpretation and negotiations
» Making recommendations to adjust staffing needs
» Preparing employee (account staff) reviews

Work Experience
Desired qualifications include 5+ years of experience in a creative environment managing client accounts. Must possess expert knowledge and resources for brand development, brand strategy, creative production, and digital development processes.

Understanding of project management methodology including the ability to identify and resolve issues, manage risk, develop detailed task-based work plans and specifications, perform resource allocations, and lead team meetings.

Computer and Software Requirements
Must be fluent in Apple Mac computer environment and an expert in Filemaker, Keynote, and Microsoft Office applications.

Communication Skill Requirements
This position requires a positive, upbeat, friendly individual with a “can do” approach to work—no task is too small or too large. Excellent verbal and written communications skills are necessary.

Physical and Work Environment Requirements
Stamina and a disposition to maintain attention to details despite interruptions are essential.

Copywriter

The copywriter (CW) is a creative leader for our advertising, brand development, and brand strategy assignments.

The CW charter has two key elements: To serve as a creative resource and writer; ensure the company maintains a consistent level of high-quality creative thinking and writing. This charter is accomplished by taking an active leadership role as a creative resource and authority; and by perpetuating an environment that encourages a highly creative end product. The CW works and interacts with clients, creative staff, account directors, and reports directly to an agency partner. 

Responsibilities Include
» Taking direction from an agency partner.
» Researching and understanding our client’s institutional brand, sub-brand, and product market position.
» Supporting/completing copywriting assignments.
» Ensuring all creative product is strategic and tracks back to a central brand message.
» Interacting with the creative staff.
» Serving as primary contact for brand strategy projects.
» Proofing copy decks.
» Monitoring the progress of assigned writing from concept through completion.
» Ensuring creative teams follow and adhere to established procedures.
» Attending client and new business meetings on an as needed basis.
» Providing guidance in writing and copy proofing techniques.
» Participating in design organizations and conferences to promote the Company.

Qualifications

» Knowledge and experience on writing initiatives spanning traditional and digital advertising and brand strategy.

Work and Educational Experience Requirements
Must have five+ years experience as a writer in a fast-paced award-winning advertising, design, or corporate communications environment. Bachelor’s degree or higher in a communications discipline is expected.

Software/Application Experience Requirements
Must be fluent in Macintosh computer operating system and related development applications. Experienced using Microsoft Word and Adobe Creative Suite tools.

Work Ethic Requirements
This is not a nine to five job—The CW must love what he or she does. He or she is expected to direct the staff to do whatever is necessary to ensure the success of all client accounts. Must instill in the staff that they must set their sights high to be the best they can be. Must be extremely tuned to details and catching errors.

Design Intern

The Design Intern (DI) helps with our brand strategy, design, and marketing campaign assignments.

The DI charter has two key elements: To serve as a creative resource and ensure the company maintains a consistent level of high-quality creative thinking. This charter is accomplished by taking an active role to perpetuate an environment that ensures a highly creative end product. The DI works and interacts with clients, creative staff, account directors, and reports directly to a senior designer/art director.

We need someone who can commit to a minimum six-week (or 240+ hours) internship.

Design Skills Include
We do expect a strong working knowledge of the brand development processes—but we’re realistic about the skill set of a senior or graduate level intern. Interns are not expected to be proficient in all areas day one.
» Brand Development (logo design, brand identity guidelines, literature systems) 
» Website design (HTML and coding knowledge would be a plus)

Junior Designer

A Junior Designer (JD) works directly with a Michael Patrick Partners’ senior designers, partners and our clients to ensure all aspects of branding assignments are designed, managed, and developed according to our high creative standards. Junior designers must be adept at logo, literature, and digital design. The position carries the primary responsibility of making certain the industry’s most current brand development processes are applied to each assignment. Junior designers touch many assignments—large and small—they hold the key to a successful end product.

Responsibilities Include
Junior designers work with Michael Patrick Partners’ design teams and clients on print and digital branding assignments and support all respective branding activities from end-to-end. Junior designers also help to ensure concise communication, workflow, and digital production records are maintained.

Junior designers must have upbeat positive personalities and also be skilled communicators, negotiators, and presenters. They must be able to work effectively under pressure, take criticism well (a real team player), and be motivated to produce the best possible results. They must live, breath, and sweat design and want to win too many design awards to count.

Senior Designer/Art Director

The senior designer/art director (SD/AD) is our top creative authority and focuses on:

4.) Helping to drive appropriate new business to the agency
This focus is accomplished by taking an active leadership role and by perpetuating an environment that encourages highly creative assignment outcomes. The SD/AD interacts with clients, design staff, account directors, and reports directly to a managing partner.

Responsibilities Include
» Being the primary creative resource (leader)
» Designing and art directing (taking full responsibility for) key client assignments

» Exercising final approval/veto power on all creative decisions
