The guiding vision of the Congregation of Holy Cross directs this 118-year-old university. However, an initiative of the university’s strategic plan called for a visual identity that felt less like the Vatican and more like the hip city across the Willamette River. 

Goal

Evolve the brand into a modern system inspired by the classic elements of the historic logo. Reposition the entire visual identity into a highly sophisticated communications environment that will appeal to prospective students, alumni, donors, and the business community.

Outcome

During the course of our seven-year relationship with the University of Portland, we’ve designed the advertising, end-to-end visual identity system, admission enrollment campaigns for undergraduate and graduate audiences, historic fundraising campaign, environmental and sports venue graphics, and website. You name it; we’ve done it. The work has received CASE Grand Gold, Gold, Silver, and Bronze Medals plus other mainstream awards.
